Abstract:
The current biotechnological approaches enable to develop the method for production the double haploid lines through anther culture and culture of unpollinated ovules in vitro. As it was shown in carrot there are two methods which can be used to obtain such lines. These techniques were utilized in two carrot cultivars Nantes 4 and NIIOCH336. In general, 450 ovules and 223 anthers were placed on medium with 2,4-D. After 5-6 weeks the active callus formation can be noticed on ovules. All calluses and embryoids obtained were then transferred to the fresh medium with kinetin for plant regeneration. Total number of ovules with gynogenic structures was 36% with callus and 2.1% with embryoids comparing with anther culture where yield of callusing anthers reached 22.2%.
